Aneta Suwińska’s Project Receives Funding in the “Research Impulses” Competition!

Congratulations to Aneta Suwińska, PhD, DSc, University Professor, who has secured funding for her project under the ‘Research Impulses, Excellence Initiative – Research University’ competition.

The project entitled ‘Identification of microRNAs associated with abnormal blastocyst development and assessment of their suitability as non-invasive indicators of embryo quality’ has received funding of 143,830.00 PLN.

Infertility currently affects around one in six people of reproductive age. Although in vitro fertilization (IVF) offers many couples the chance to become parents, its overall success remains limited. One of the causes is abnormalities in early embryo development, which cannot be detected during routine morphological assessment. Within the project, Aneta Suwińska, PhD, DSc, University Professor, together with her team, will investigate the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) – small molecules that regulate gene expression – in early embryo development. The team will also evaluate whether these molecules could serve as the basis for new, non-invasive methods of assessing embryo quality. Research using a mouse model will provide a better understanding of the mechanisms regulating the earliest stages of embryonic development and lay the foundations for the development of new tools to enhance the effectiveness of IVF treatment for infertility.
