We conduct research into the earliest stages of mammalian life – from oogenesis to early post-implantation embryonic development, using the mouse as a model organism. Our research topics include the mechanisms underlying oocyte maturation and the differentiation of the first cell lineages in the embryo. Furthermore, we study the regulation of embryo size, the impact of physiological and environmental factors on oocyte and embryo quality, and the search for novel methods to assess this quality.

 

The impact of our research

Our projects hold not only fundamental scientific value but also practical application potential. They support the advancement of reproductive medicine and animal biotechnology, with a particular focus on assisted reproductive technologies. Furthermore, part of our work is interdisciplinary, combining cell and molecular biology techniques with modern optical physics.
